Touching down to Tokyo, 2008

-

Last weekend I had the opportunity of “travelling alone” up north to Kuala Lumpur (Note: for a day. haha) , Malaysia. Not entirely, though. Just when I thought I would be lost for hours finding my cheap guesthouse in chinatown in a dorm wth 2 dozen other travellers, my friend Alia offered me her place to stay in. And, she picked me up with her car and we drove all around KL, from the town to the west and back.

I wouldn’t have minded at all to live in a guesthouse, which I foresee myself doing for many years. But the time spent driving around KL was such an experience. It was more than the busy streets with people walking around in all directions, the amazing street food, it was the escape. It felt like home it felt familiar but at the same time I felt so free. That’s what I love about travelling. The ability to control and plan what you wish to do. The knowing of the unknown, only to realise you don’t know much about where you are if you don’t try hard enough.

Freedom is what I seek, and it would be found even in the smallest corners and plain surfaces and also, in your state of mind. Let yourself free.
